At the School of Management (SOM), you can expect an education that reflects the latest trends in management principles and practices. This institution, set up in 2004, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Singapore Manufacturers’ Federation (SMa), the national body representing the manufacturing community.
SOM offers academic and executive training programmes from reputable universities and international institutions around the world with modules like new executive development, business management, accounting, manufacturing, and purchasing and supply chain management. This is in line with their objectives of increasing local companies’ global competitiveness and encouraging local human capital development. An extensive range of academic programmes and short executive seminars are available as well.
SOM provides its students with an edge over others, thanks to its affiliation to other industries. It leverages on SMa’s connections to provide value-added education for its students to gain practical experience, business knowledge and management skills through industrial attachments.
Established in 1932, SMa has a clientele and membership base of 2,500 corporations, categorised into 11 industry groups. Its corporate members include some of today’s top organisations such as DBS, Siemens, Motorola, Pfizer Asia Pacific and StarHub.
As part of SOM’s programmes, students get to attend industry networking sessions, forums, dialogues and national conferences to meet business and industry leaders. This facilitates effective learning beyond the classroom.
What’s more, SOM’s Personalised Career Development consultants are available to assist and advise students in identifying courses that will meet their career objectives and link them specifically to member organisations. Graduates can post their resumes online via the SMa web portal, which is connected to over 2500 potential employers. This value-added service is just one of many reasons to pursue an education at SOM.
Conveniently located at Le Meridien Hotel along Orchard Road, SOM’s City Campus features state-of-the-art technology that allows for virtual learning any time of the day.
