The DSTA Scholarship is the premier scholarship in defence science and technology. Two scholars share with us how the scholarship has paved the way towards fulfilling careers for them.

The DSTA Scholarship provides a fully-sponsored undergraduate education in selected fields of study at top local and overseas universities.

It gives scholars diverse opportunities to pursue challenging careers not just in the Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA), but also in the other organisations that make up the Defence Technology Community .

Behind the doors

For Ong Shin Rong and Eugene Ang, choosing the DSTA Scholarship has opened the doors to an extremely fruitful and fulfilling career.

27-year-old Eugene, an Engineer with the C4I Development Programme Centre, waxes lyrical about his time so far with DSTA.

“It is truly a career like no other,” he enthuses, “one that is full of challenges, yet is highly rewarding as you know that your vital contribution truly makes a difference to our nation.”

Taking up a scholarship is not just about positioning yourself for that perfect career. It is also about the journey and the opportunities that are offered to you. Two CAG scholars tell us how their scholarship programme opened up a world of opportunities for them.

Not many people can claim to have a butterfly garden at their workplace. For that matter, not many people can say they work at a multiple-award winning airport that is both an iconic symbol and a source of national pride.

But for Seoh Zhi Wen and Stephanie Sim, these are just two such opportunities they have enjoyed since accepting the Changi Airport Group (CAG) scholarship.

Accountancy student Dickson Koh shares his thoughts on doing a self-study course with the CIMA.

For most students, school holidays signal the time to rest and relax. But not for 24-year-old Dickson Koh, a second-year accountancy student at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) - he chose to take a self-study course with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).

Dickson decided to enrol into a three-month course in Enterprise Operations which gives him a general overview of business covering topics ranging from logistics to human resources. Dickson finds this course helpful. “It helps (me) see the whole picture, how my job fits in the economic environment,” he explains.
